PROJECT X: An Eerie 10 Minute Movie at Sundance This Year
I can’t say I’ve ever been much of a fan of short movies, but I’ve recently become quite intrigued by this storytelling form. As this years Sundance Film Festival is underway, Kim Adelman has written an article for IndieWire recommending 10 short films worth seeing. Project X by Laura Poitras and Henrick Moltke is one of them.
I recommend going full-screen with the lights out around you when you watch Project X.
Here’s how Kim describes the short in her article:
“Project X” is a visual portrait of the exterior of a sinister windowless skyscraper in Manhattan. The accompanying narration, read by Rami Malek and Michelle Williams, is excerpted from secret NSA documents and travel instructions, Christopher Holmes’ hypnotic score ties the whole package together.
I found Project X to be quite eerie. I’m certain that was the filmmakers goal. They definitely succeeded.
The visuals and score combined with the actual documents from the National Security Agency unnerved me quite a bit after I watched it.
Let me know what you think of Project X.
