Howdy! And thank you for stopping by my website.
My name is Brian David Floyd and I am a storyteller.
I’ve been one most of my life on this earth and knew as early as the 4th Grade that I wanted to entertain people with stories my imagination conjured up.
The first significant encouragement I had to continue along this path happened when I was in the 9th Grade at Norco Junior High and was named Writer of the Month. I still have the award.
For many reasons I did not go to college for writing. I earned a degree in history and wound up getting a job in politics.
Yeah, politics, ’cause after all its a place where storytelling comes in handy and you can make up your own numbers, which suited me fine since I always had a hard time with math.
And though I did find success in the political realm, I had so many fiction stories running around in my head that I found myself drawn back into writing.
For a number of years I wrote original screenplays both on my own and with writing partners as I played the lottery known as the Hollywood script selling game.
While many screenplays were written and many meetings with “producers” did take place, no sales were made.
I even wrote a spec script of a Seinfeld episode which you can read for free at this link.
In 2016, I decided I was tired of dying of encouragement in Hollywood and decided to get my stories out in the world into the world.
That’s when I published my first book, a funny and touching memoir about my father titled Dad Was Right: 10 Life Lessons a Father Taught His Son.
My follow up book went in very different direction. It’s a work of fiction titled Cloning Elvis. Not only is it my first novel, but it’s also my first bestseller.
That was followed by Livin’ on a Prayer (adapted from a screenplay I co-wrote with Robert Slawsby), Last Wishes, and Jack Frost Roasting on an Open Fire.
I’m currently finishing a follow up to Last Wishes as well as a sequel to Jack Frost. There’s also a ton of other ideas circulating my brain and competing for the on deck circle.
If you’d like to read a sample of my writings, tap this link and I’ll send you a free ebook copy of my latest collection of short stories.
Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my stories.
Always,
